Post modernism

Post modernism is in a way a movement which we place within the time period of  1975 – 1990. The term was initially used to describe designs within architecture that differed from the ready established code. This period within art history focused on a vast array of artistic fields from architecture, fashion, graphic design, furniture. They had an interest in ornamentation, symbolism and visual wit.

Some inspirations include thorn paper collages in collaboration with loose and random brish strokes

Some of the influential designers of this period are wolfgang weingart (influenced by the geometry of triangles he then led on to influence multiple different designers), the next designer was April Greiman who was weingarts student, she is probably the best known femal graphic designer in design history

Other postmodern designers would distory swiss conventions differently for example combining formal grid systems with split type.
