Info graphic style

I shall now be explaining the reasons for creating the info graphic the way I did. The first thing I took note of was the styles of the movements in general (constructivism, dada, psychedelic, punk and grunge). All of the movements were rebellious in their own way, in both reasons and style. The only movement which can be seen as a slight exception to this statement is constructivism. I placed constructivism with these rebellious movements due to the fact that it rejected the ideology of using art for art’s sake, but instead art should serve a purpose. Though as a style it was extremely orderly within its own sense once compared to the other movements.

I wanted the info graphic to look cluttered at first glance; this was a way to reflect the whole ideas of photomontage within the dada movement. In my opinion one cannot create and info graphic representing rebellious movements in an extremely orderly way. Obviously I still kept a sense of order so as to make it understandable (order within disorder).

Within these movements (except constructivism) type was a very experimental feature to the point where it was either hand written, or virtually illegible. I wanted to reflect that by using hand drawn type (the hand drawn type was also influenced by the punk fanzines). Another reason for this was to make the actual info graphic look vandalized. The links between the movements are also using hand drawn arrows (made to look as if they were sprayed on); the reason behind these arrows was to reflect one of the current rebellious movements, graffiti/street art.

Therefore as a conclusion there was an artistic reasoning towards the style of my info graphic. I tried to reflect the information about the movements, by using techniques used by the movements themselves.
